Client received the first verification text and chose to opt out of future text. The client now wants to receive texts concerning his application. Is there a way to change the text option back to opting in?

Hey @Diamo

Under the Lender Application, there should be  a section called “Manage Borrowers & SMS”.  You should be able to manually change the opt-in/opt-out settings for the borrower there.

Hi Diamo,

According to the SMS product guide:

Once opted out, the only way to resume text messages would be for the borrower to reply to the
thread with START or UNSTOP to resume messages.

Hope that helps!

Hi @Diamo ,

I checked in with Product just for a little clarity:

  • I can confirm, only borrowers are able to opt back into SMS. Lenders are not able to opt in the borrowers due to TCPA regulations.
  • To opt back in, the borrower will need to text the word ‘START’ to the toll-free number to opt back in.
  • If the SMS thread has been deleted, borrowers create a new SMS message to the toll free number that is used for SMS updates. (Found in the Toll-Free Verification Form that was filled out when Blend customers signed up for SMS Updates)

Here’s a related article that has more information about SMS functionality:

Hope this helps. Have a great weekend!
